🍻 Is Canon 5D Mark Iii Still A Good Camera
The Canon EOS R5 Full-Frame Mirrorless Camera. This amazing camera is the newest addition to our camera bag. We started using the Canon EOS R5 in early 2022. We have always been in the Canon family, and the vast majority of photos on our website were taken with either a Canon 5D Mark III or Canon 5D Mark IV (as you will see later in this guide).
The two cameras will exist alongside the EOD 5D Mark III, acting as dedicated high resolution cameras primarily intended for studio, landscape and wedding shoots, rather than the all-round capability offered by the existing model. The Mark III still trumps the S and S R in terms of maximum ISO and continuous shooting speed.
Canon doesn't want existing 5D owners to have to learn a new camera layout. As a result, they've kept a similar form factor and layout similar throughout the 5D line. The Mark IV sports a magnesium alloy and polycarbonate body, so for a big camera, it's fairly light at 800 grams (50 grams less than the Mark III).
Launched in August 2016, the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV is a full-frame camera brought in to replace the Canon EOS 5D Mark III. It has a shorter battery life. But the upgrade includes the following: A larger sensor; A higher frame rate; A higher ISO limit; Built-in Wi-Fi and NFC connections
These two high-resoluton files should make it quite apparent – Canon has a winner on their hands with the Canon 5D Mark III (affiliate). We have a camera that gives surprisingly good results at ISO settings that would’ve been regarded as insanely high, just a few years ago. With an enhanced image sensor with ISO 100 to 25,600 native ISO range, fully weather-sealed camera body, 6 fps burst shooting speed and dual card support, the 5D Mark III seems to target all kinds of photography – from landscapes and fashion to sports and wildlife photography.
While the Canon EOS 6D Digital SLR Camera appears to be the logical successor to the Canon EOS 5D Mark II DSLR Camera, the model number slots it below the 5D series in a new line of DSLR cameras. The Canon EOS 5D Mark III is the successor to the 5D Mark II in name, but the 5D III received some considerable upgrades - especially in its AF system
The Canon EOS 5D Mark IV is a full-frame, high-resolution DSLR that's a great choice for advanced users who want a camera they can grow into. It's a solid upgrade from the 5D Mark III, and it's a rock-solid option for anyone who needs a workhorse camera. 5D mkiii was an utterly outstanding camera when it was new and still is. Just its autofocus capabilities alone put it leagues ahead of any comparable new $700 camera. Pair it with an L series lens for best results. The MkIII is a good camera. Will do all of the above better than the T3i. $700 is a good price.
I spent several intimate weeks with the Canon 5D Mk III as I researched and wrote my dSLR camera guide, Canon 5D Mark III Experience, the first (and hopefully best!) book available for the 5D Mk III. In the process I learned and discovered a few obvious and not so obvious things about the 5D3 that will help you get the most from your camera.

The Canon EOS R5 incorporates a top LCD screen – much more akin to my 5D Mark III. The Canon EOS R6 Mark II loses the top screen to allow for a more traditional mode wheel. To the point that, despite the R6 being the clear choice for my own needs in every single department I was still seriously considering buying an R5.
06-11-2013 10:38 AM. The focusing screen on the 5D III isn't user-replaceable like it is on the 5D II. The new screen has embedded electronics you'll notice, for example, that when you change focusing modes the black focus points can appear, disappear, or change location. That wasn't possible on the 5D II which used a simpler frosted glass
It's an incredibly capable piece of kit. I had (still have) the 5D Mark II which was outstanding for center point focus but less reliable for outer points. The 5D MK III solved this problem and had much improved high ISO performance. It's tough to beat. Full disclosure, my go to body now is a 5D Mk IV.
