I never found Most Wanted (2012) unplayable. I actually rather enjoyed it once I stopped viewing it as a NFS game and just Burnout Paradise with real cars and police pursuits. I went online and found a Digital Foundry video between the PC and Wii U ports. The textures on the ground, particle effects, and shadows are much better on PC. Plus, playing at 4K natively is always a bonus. And the lighting you're talking about, that's the contrast being increased. Grid 2 is on sale on Steam including all DLC for $12.49.
